To accomplish our purpose for existence the Central District is involved in four primary activities...
Strengthening Churches Measurably
Our goal is to provide increasing support for the ministries of our local congregations. Currently we are involved in networking congregational leaders for support and ministry partnership. The Central District also facilitates annual retreats for children, youth and adults, as well as fellowship oriented events.
Planting Churches Strategically
Church planting has historically been central to the life and mission of the Central District. Our goal is to plant new churches in the 30 largest cities within our geographic boundaries. We use a number of means to accomplish this: birthing churches, pioneering plants, creating teams of existent churches, and partnering with other denominations and local congregations.
Tom Blaylock and Jimmy Santiago oversee our church planting endeavors.
Multiplying Disciples Dramatically
The Central District recognizes the importance of equipping and mobilizing rank and file believers for the work of making disciples of Jesus Christ. We are actively involved in redefining discipleship to include training in Christian living rather than passive learning of the Biblical facts. We are working to raise up a movement of disciples that make disciples to the fourth generation.
Steve Jones runs at the forefront of this movement.
Developing Leaders Intentionally
Everyone on the ministry staff of the Central District Office has served as a pastor of a local congregation. These experiences yield a great commitment to the vocational and lay leaders of the district.
We are committed to developing a strong core of qualified and competent leadership. Our goal is to establish a "common leadership language" out of which we can trust and train one another to lead most effectively.
Steve Jones is the lead man in our leadership development initiatives.
