Youth Ministry

CDYC (Central District Youth Conference)

JR High -- June 19-22, 2010

SR High -- June 23-27, 2010

Indiana Wesleyan University

CDYC is an environment created for students, to help them encounter the transforming power of Jesus Christ through engaging worship, creative teaching and connection with other students. Our desire is that no matter what stage an individual is at on their spiritual journey, they would find the truth of a Living God that is relevant and life changing.

From the minute students arrive, CDYC is full of opportunities for them to explore who God has created them to be. Whether it is through our Live to Serve Project (S.H. only) that allows students to serve the community, Talent Quest or participation in a variety of sporting events they will have an opportunity to get involved. Add to it a chance to meet new people, hang out with friends, concerts and late night dorm activities and you have an event prime for the best week of the year!

CDYC Steering Committee

Sarah Lawrence serves as a Youth Pastor at Grabill Missionary Church.  She and her husband, Andrew, have two sons, Eli and Jacob.  Sarah serves the Central District as the leader of the CDYC Steering Committee.

Bible Quizzing

A great tool for discipling our district young people is Bible quizzing. Through quizzing youth are given the opportunity to learn God’s Word and to develop Christian character. The very nature of quizzing teaches discipline, leadership and perseverance while allowing youth the opportunity to enjoy competition, friendships, and accountability. Coaches encourage the discipleship process by integrating life application lessons, teaching our youth how the Bible applies to their every day lives. Quizzing, like most sports, involves hard work, but there are great rewards. And it is a lot of fun too!

Over the course of ten to eleven months, quizzers study (21 to 28 chapters) and memorize a portion of that Scripture.  They work both as individuals  and as a team. Each month youth from across the District gather to compete in team quizzing.  If you've never witnessed a quiz competition, you need to!  Students test their knowledge and memory in 20 question quizzes.  There are also invitationals where quizzers from multiple districts get together and quiz.

National Quiz Finals are usually in July and include teams from five different Missionary Church Districts (Central, North Central, East Central, Michigan and Canada).

Youth Quizzing Directors

Matt and Jennifer Littleford are the District Directors of Youth Bible Quizzing.  2008 was their first year in this role.  Jennifer was a quizzer as a youth.  Matt became involved as a coach in 1995.  Matt and Jennifer attend Avalon Missionary Church.  They have four children, three of whom have been involved in children's quizzing.

Youth Worker's Forum

We value all of the men and women who invest themselves in the lives of youth throughout the Central District.  To express our appreciation and develop the strengths and abilitites of these ministers we offer the Youth Worker's Forum three times a year.

The Youth Worker's Forum is designed to encourage networking, cast vision, educate and inform.  In the Spring and Fall of the year we meet regionally.  In the Winter we meet together at the National Youth Ministry Conference in Columbus, OH.

If you are in ministry to the youth in your local Missionary Church you have an open invitation to join us!  For more information e-mail your request here.
